LANCELIN IS OPEN, IT WAS NEVER CLOSED!

At a DFES briefing this morning, Greg Mair, the Deputy Incident Controller for the bushfires east of Lancelin, confirmed that Lancelin was never closed to travellers over the last week or so. Four days ago on this page, DFES commented on more than one post that Lancelin WAS closed to incoming travellers but people could depart Lancelin. Naturally this created confusion as there was never any checking of vehicles entering… Read More

NEW EDWARDS ISLAND TRACK OPEN

A few months ago the Shire committed to re-opening access to Edwards Island and today it happened. As you can see from this aerial shot, the old track remains closed but a new track has been formed allowing vehicles to get to the point. See you here soon and make sure you download the Visitors’ Guide prior to arriving into town. https://www.lancelin.com.au/…/lancelin_brochure_2020.pdf… Read More

SAVE LANCELIN???

On Tuesday, these “Save Lancelin” stickers started appearing on cars around town. By Thursday, they were spotted on the counters at several businesses in Lancelin including Have A Chat General Store where Mika (left) and Kellie were happy to show them off and give them away to customers. So what’s it all about? Not 100% sure, but it’s a sentiment I think most will get behind. Keep a look out… Read More

LIVE CRAYFISH IN LANCELIN

So far, more than 1.3 tonnes of live lobsters have been sold for collection at the Lancelin jetty. Forget frozen, this is live seafood, less than 15 minutes out of water and you’ll pick them up for as little as $25. You need to pre-order here https://www.lancelin.com.au/product/live-lancelin-lobsters/ as there are only 200 crays/day available. But the good news is that we have fishers bringing live crays back to the jetty… Read More

On your drive from Perth to Lancelin you will see an abundance of these WA Christmas trees. They are vibrant to say the least and with last year’s bushfires turning many of the trees jet black, the orange simply POPS! It looks like the peak of the colour was last week but they will still be around for a while yet. Order live crayfish here – https://www.lancelin.com.au/product/live-lancelin-lobsters/ and collect from… Read More
