Visitors and locals will be thrilled by the upgrade to the Lancelin Lookout which was completed mid-June. Members of the LDCA, in particular Jan Cardy, Andrea Moss and Kathy Thomas were instrumental in progressing the $160,000+ upgrade. The Bendigo Bank contributed $44,000 towards the project after the LDCA enlisted their help. The Shire of Gingin funded the balance and the result is impressive.
Those on bikes will now be able to make it up to the platform which is situated just north of the Lancelin Beach Hotel. There is still some concreting work to be done on the north side. At present, the dirt track that leads to the wooden ramp on that side is uneven however once it’s been concreted, those in wheelchairs will easily be able to make the ascent.
On the south side, the new wooden staircase is a marked improvement over the sand track that was previously there.
Congrats to all involved, it’s a super piece of tourism infrastructure!
