On June 20, 2017, the Shire of Gingin appointed two married couples, operating under a company structure, as the new operators of the Lancelin South Caravan Park.
Reg and Donna Cocking and Christopher and Nella Sialtsis were the successful applicants and will initially be appointed as interim managers on July 1st, 2017.
There are some legalities that need to be addressed e.g. changing the designation from caravan park to holiday resort, before they can officially take over as the new operators on January 1st, 2018.
The couples will be investing millions of dollars/year over a 4-5 year period, bringing it up to a standard that befits a tourism town of Lancelin’s ilk. The development will be in keeping with the laid back atmosphere of the town but will include the likes of chalets and certainly far better facilities.
While initially there were two entities vying for the lease, one of those entities pulled out early on in the process leaving the two couples as the sole, and successful, bidder.
The four, who currently run Central Caravan Park in Ascot and and Mandurah Caravan and Tourist Park, will be integral players in Lancelin’s transformation from a crayfishing town to a tourist town over the coming years and there is little doubt long term residents and holiday home owners wish them well with their investment.
